Words and Images of

Jessie M Page, PhD

Hello, everyone. I’m pleased to bring you news of my latest published books, and of new artwork. I’ll also be talking about my holistic therapy practice from time to time, offering bits of learned wisdom and affirmative thoughts. If anyone is interested in buying books or art, arranging for some talk time, or scheduling a Words and Images workshop and/or Wise Wymyn Circle, please send a request to wordsandimages@mail.com. Thank you and ‘see’ you soon.

Artist’s/Author’s Statement
I am a curious wanderer, gathering up memories like bundles of down wood. I warm myself against the cold of uncertainty with recollections of sweet-hearted friends, distant lovers, wild places. Some of these find themselves pressed onto pages in stories, some find themselves treading the boards in plays; some even spread out in a novel or two. The natural world inspires my artwork. Some call me gypsy, some call me slightly crazy. None call me boring.

Eagle Haven, A Novella (2019). Five disparate characters live at the Eagle Creek Trailer Haven by the side of the road on Whidbey Island in Washington State. Five characters, all of and above that certain age, who wonder what life holds next. These folks are on their own, island isolated. And that’s very OK by them. https://www.blurb.co.uk/b/9596999-eagle-haven.

End of the Road? A Novel (2014). Fern Fanshaw has reached “a woman of a certain age” category, with no attachments. Unlike other most women of her generation, she has arrived at this juncture with no spouse, no children/grandchildren, no career, no property, no savings, no fame, no fortune. She possesses a strong body and a curious mind and lately has been asking herself, “Is this the end of my road?” https://www.blurb.co.uk/b/5096320-end-of-the-road.

Fields, A Collection of Short Stories (2nd Ed.)(2019). Like fields in the English countryside, one story connects to another for an instant, then becomes its own particular landscape. https://www.blurb.co.uk/b/9716459-fields.

Fractured Godesses, A Memoir (2nd Ed.)(2019). “[…] If I were to write a memoir, a remembrance of a memory, in prose, about my abortions, what would I include? How will I speak about what has so long been silenced?[…] Do I have a voice for these memories? In all, there must fall a quiet, somber moment. A moment which was once suppressed rage born of fright, a moment which, with distance, begins to subtely, surely shape-shift into contemplation.” https://www.blurb.co.uk/b/9701306-fractured-goddesses-2nd-ed.

Passing By, Stories (2019). As you go passing by, why not stop awhile and drop into one of these stories… some silly, some sad, some serene. Just like our lives. https://www.blurb.co.uk/b/9573318-passing-by-stories.

Secrets Among Us, A Novel (2019). Margaret Finn, a matriarch who lives her life in the Pacific Northwestern United States, is as removed and as connected to the pulse of the 20th century as her island home is to the continent. Margaret raises two daughters, Nora and Allison, mostly on her own, has a longtime woman friend, Fiona Gregson, who accompanies Margaret until she chooses to leave. She is one of those rare characters who exemplify living a life without regrets. https://www.blurb.co.uk/b/9612947-secrets-among-us.
